My 10th Birthday...

...And What New Kids On The Block Means To Me.

Here it is folks, the long-awaited arrival of possibly some of the most embarassing photos of me to have ever been taken (aside from the bare butt in the tub, which, you will NEVER see here. Sorry to burst your bubble.) Please enjoy this while it lasts, because after having shown these to you, I very well might have to kill you in an attempt to salvage my pride. (heh. Of COURSE I would not kill you, but I will threaten bodily harm if you make fun of me in any way! ;)
So! Without further adieu, I bring you... ME! Age 10.

"What?!? Since when did New Kids on the Block become uncool?! Whatever dude. I'll still love Joey McIntyre until the day I DIE!!!"
(Cousin to the left of me: no joke, a year and some months older than me. Suffice it to say, she's now a whopping 4'10" as an adult, while I, tower over her standing at a healthy 5'9".) The cousin to the right of me: well... I'll explain her as we go along.

The Girls.
"Look at us in our NKOTB garb! We are SOOOO cool!" (Did you like my hat? Cause I sure did- I don't think I took that thing off my head for my entire 10th year of life. Mom did well picking that one out for me!)

Are you sensing a trend with this one? She's kind of a ham. Just wait. It gets SO much better...

The Girls. Again.

Isn't it just so perfect? A five year old, folks! A five year old who grabs her tush for the camera. Priceless... just priceless.

There you have it: Me, myself, my NKOTB obsession, my friends, my family, and of course: my five-year-old-tush-grabbing-cousin. You have now seen it all.

Have a blessed day.

*Smile* Too cute Steph, too cute. I was a closet NKOTB fan. I wasn't allowed to listen to their music, but I liked them anyways. Thanks for posting the pics. It's all coming together now.... >:)

Amstaff- Thanks. It was very fun coming across these pics - memories!

Thomas - whatever! NKOTB was my very first concert ever... and it shaped me as the adult that I am today! (okay, not really, but you shouldn't make fun of people ;) Besides, I bet you had some sick teenaged obsession. Come on, spill it!

Stephanie - If only we had lived in the same place growing up we would have been BFF (best friends forever - for those of you uncool people out there) because I would have LYLAS (loved you like a sister) and written you notes folded into fun shapes like t-shrirts and such. And we would have been rock stars in our matching Joey McIntyre shirts (because he was the CUTEST) and our matching hats (oh the hat, wore it in my sixth grade picture as I stood on the top row with all the boys because I grew about 6 inches between 5th and 6th grade - the horror, the horror).

Stephanie you are AWESOME, not only for posting these pics but for being the kind of gal who does it with glee.

LLL (longer letter later)

Ok I'm done retreating back to my elementary and junior high days

Katie-

I got SO busted in grade, middle, and even in high school for passing notes. I was never good at being slick that way - I guess that's why me and practical jokes rarely mix. (I was always terrified of t.p.-ing someone's house for fear of getting caught. I did it anyway, but that's beside the point lol) But that's a whole other ball of wax. Anyway!

Reverting... reverting... Totally K-T! We would have been BFF!! - With our matching hats, how cool were we?! Oh my word, as I was posting these and taking my little jaunt down memory lane, I seriously could not stop laughing. I mean, how ridiculous? lol But you know, no matter how you slice it, we were the ultimate in cool.

Ok I have to make a few more comments:

The 5 year olds outfit is classic. Belt over the t-shirt with the skirt, that could almost be a "unit" outfit.

Then the hot pink metallic bike shorts that one of the girls is wearing - I so rocked the bike shorts (did I really just admit that?)

The fake vest/t-shirt combo - Oh I had that outfit too.

Is that puff paint on the one girl's shirt? Puff Paint - L.O.V.E.D. I.T.

Oh and T.P.ing a house. Girl, my mom drove us to a house when I was in 6th grade and we t.p.ed our friend's house whose dad was a pastor. CLASSIC childhood.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. You are AWESOME, just had to say that again.

Puff Paint. Check. LOVED IT. The fake vest shirt. Check. Had that too. The unit outfit: CHECK! How dorky am I? lol But puff paint: Come on now, who didn't love that stuff? I wish I would have saved some of the shirts that I "decorated" with puff paint. I'm sure it would be good for an incredible fit of laughter.

However, Katie, friend, I am not officially satisfied here. I think in an effort to show that I'm not alone in this, you need to dig up your old pics and show us what you were really made of. You know what? I think this is an official "tag"... Katie! You're it! Let the embarassment commence!

Oh and might I say... biker shorts: I had them in all colors and textures: Hot pink, blue, black, SHINY black, purple, green... and don't even get me started on other things like... leg warmers anyone? Oh goodness gracious this could get ugly...

Ok Stephanie, I will rise to your challenge. Give me some time. I am going to have to HUNT for pictures.

I found some from a New Kids concert, but I'm not in any of them (somehow I must have KNOWN the future humiliation that could come from those pics).

But if you want to see what I was made of in elem/junior high I can bring it. I'm not skeered (said with a North Dakota accent - picked that saying up from a friend).

Skeered? That's a new one! lol *might find myself using that sometime in the future* Ohmygosh! Speaking of which? Did you know? (Random fact) I've ACTUALLY said "SUMO" in real life without even trying? It just came flying out of my mouth before I had a chance to stop it! Even the "blog-o-verse" is having a profound effect on my vernacular... scary.

Puff Paint! Bubble Letters! LYLAS!!!! How long has it been since I wrote LYLAS? Probably since I last played M.A.S.H. I think I still remember how to fold notes to pass. I think. I SO wore units. LOVED them. I think my most hideous picture ever is 7th grade, wearing teal units with a peach unit belt, with GRAY ROPERS, permed hair and tortoise rimmed glasses. And braces, don't forget the braces. OH MY GOSH THIS PICTURE MUST BE BURNED. Only reason it's not is because it was taken in England, thus the need to wear cowboy boots, I guess. Just.plain.wrong.

It's amazing we survived.

Never toilet papered anyone, but I did fork a house. Did y'all ever do that? Stick plastic forks all in their yard? And polaroid scavenger parties? Where you had to go different places (via car) and take polaroid pictures of yourselves there? GREAT memories there.

JCOL - I MUST see that picture.

Fork a yard, if you weren't very nice then you broke the fork handle off so people wouldn't see them. Hmm, but I wasn't that mean. Really I wasn't I just "heard" about it.

No, Amstaff- it's a must. Come ON! If I can bust out with the hideous NYOTB pics, you can show us your horrible school pic. As a matter of fact, I'll even dig up my most embarassing school photo to help ease you along in the process!

K-T... forking? Hilarious! I was always afrait to do that to people.. but I know some guys who did it to people all over our neighborhood. Doesn't that break lawn mowers?
